About 50 veterans showed up for an annual Pearl Harbor remembrance at the Santa Rosa Veterans Memorial Building.
There was a reading of the names followed by Several speakers from Santa Rosa High History club sharing stories of those who had lived through it, including Bill Montgomery’s story. Montgomery is regarded as the first casualty of World War II from Santa Rosa. He Served as a gunner’s mate 30 class aboard the USS California.
Larry Petretti, a survivor from the attack, was in attendance and rang a bell in remembrance of Pearl Harbor survivors from Sonoma county that have since passed away.
