Who did it….and why? We are learning more information this morning about a shooting on Highway-101 in Healdsburg that injured two men. CHP officers say the victims got into an argument yesterday afternoon at a food truck on Lytton Springs Road, and then they got into their Honda Accord. Shortly after, someone in a truck fired several shots on the highway near Westside Road, and the Honda pulled over on the shoulder.

The driver and passenger in the Honda were injured and taken to the hospital in serious condition. The victims identities have not been released for their own safety, according to the CHP. In fact, Memorial Hospital was locked down for a time after they arrived.  A motive for the shooting has not been determined, and no arrests have been made.  All police will say is that the unknown suspect was driving a truck.

A result of the shooting was Southbound Highway-101 was shut down for nearly four hours because of  the investigation.  It finally re-opened at 4 o’clock yesterday afternoon. The streets in and around Healdsburg were jammed into the evening hours as drivers tried to get around that closure. Healdsburg police switched traffic lights in that city to flashing red, hoping it would help the traffic dissapate more quickly. Many drivers yesterday afternoon did not agree with that decision.

The last time a freeway shooting was reported was 13 years ago in Sonoma County. Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call 1-800-tell-chp
