Novato city officials say they’re rolling ahead on plans to build a downtown station for the SMART trains within the next two years. A number of officials told the “Marin IJ” yesterday they have a funding plan and they’re working to nail down grants to pay for the station. They have plans to fill the gap if grants aren’t part of the mix. The downtown station will be the third for Novato, which has a station at San Marin Drive and a stop at Hamilton.
