Scott Clarke/ESPN Images(NEW YORK) — Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge went under the knife Monday for an arthroscopic procedure on his left shoulder.

The team announced the surgery in a tweet on Tuesday afternoon. The procedure involved “a loose-body removal and cartilage clean-up.” Dr. Neal ElAttrache performed the surgery in Los Angeles.

Although an exact timeline for recovery is still unknown, the team says Judge is expected to be ready for the team’s spring training

Judge could be spotted around the Yankees’ clubhouse sporting several ice packs on his shoulder. Former manager Joe Girardi even rested him in double-headers to avoid putting stress on the shoulder.

Despite the injury, Judge finished the season with 52 home runs and was unanimously voted the American League Rookie of the Year.
