The cost of driving this Thanksgiving weekend is a lot higher than it was last year. Gas prices around the Bay Area are about a half-dollar a gallon more than they were a year ago. According to Triple-A, the average price for regular is three-21 in Sonoma County, three-39 a gallon in San Francisco, three-30 in Marin County, three-27 on the Peninsula, and three-22 in the East Bay. Part of those higher prices are because of California’s gas tax, which jumped 12 cents a gallon on November 1st.
