PG&E Changing Power Rules When It Comes to Extreme Fire Danger

PG&E officials are announcing the utility has decided to cut power in certain areas during extreme fire danger. Yesterday’s announcement came as state investigators looked into whether sparks from the company’s lines may have played a role in the deadly Northern California wildfires in October. The utility is also studying how to make its system stand up better against strong winds and fires. Other changes include creating a 24-7 wildfire prediction and response center in San Francisco, and hiring firefighters on retainer.
