Interview: The Juneteenth Festival This Saturday at Martin Luther King, Jr. Park in Santa Rosa

Public Relations, and on the Board of Directors for the event, Elaine Holtz, and President of the Juneteenth Committee, Nancy Rogers, describe the history and implementation of the Juneteenth Festival locally, the reason it’s called “Juneteenth”, whether we’ve kept a proper record of the historical moments and struggles of African Americans have endured, how Nancy wishes the younger generation knew all the sacrifices black people have made in the past, and the speeches and celebration taking place this Saturday:

 

 

 

The Juneteenth Festival is Saturday, June 16th beginning at 10am at Martin Luther King, Jr. Park between Hendley Street and Temple Avenue in Santa Rosa, just west of the Sonoma County Fairgrounds. This is a free event and everyone is welcome.
