Deputy Injured During Attempted Inmate Escape

 A deputy is recovering from a head injury she suffered while trying to catch an inmate who was trying to escape. The incident happened yesterday afternoon at Sutter Hospital in Santa Rosa, where the female inmate had been taken for unspecified medical reasons. Yesenia Carranza fled with the deputy giving chase. The Deputy would be hit in the head by a swinging metal door.

Carranza was quickly captured and booked back into jail on additional charges, including felony escape. The deputy was admitted to a local hospital, but is expected to be okay. Carranza has been in custody since June 10th serving a 30 day sentence for Drug Charges.
