Recreational Dungeness crab season is scheduled to start November 3rd and the commercial season November 15th. So far, elevated levels of domoic acid were found in five Dungeness crabs collected from Bodega Bay and Humboldt County in late September and early October. The California Department Of Public Health tests domoic acid levels every one to two weeks. The neurotoxin has caused delays in two of the past three crab seasons in the Bay Area.
