PG&E is said to have asked federal energy regulators for permission to raise customers’ bills over wildfires. In an October filing, the utility listed a number of dangers tied to its transmission lines across Northern California, saying they faced a higher risk of wildfires than any other utility. PG&E made the request about a month before the deadly Camp Fire broke out in Butte County. Meanwhile, San Francisco-based PG&E has lost roughly 15-billion dollars in market value, its shares falling about 60 percent in a week.
