The City of Rohnert Park has identified their candidate for director of public safety. Timothy Mattos has spent the last 10 years with the Suisun City Police Department, serving as chief for 3 and a half years. If confirmed by a council vote at tonight’s meeting, Mattos will be responsible for restoring public faith in Rohnert Park’s police force. The city has been the focus of two federal civil rights lawsuits, including a controversial drug-and-cash interception program that placed officers near the Sonoma-Mendocino county line, bringing in more than $2.4 million in seized assets since 2014. The appointment of Mattos would also include a reorganization of the leadership structure of the public safety department.
