Human remains found on a Mendocino County beach last spring are those of Hannah Hart, a 16-year-old Oregon girl who died when her family’s SUV plunged down a cliff last March. A partial foot was discovered by a beachgoer on April 2nd. It was still inside a shoe that was attached to a pair of jeans, according to Mendocino County law enforcement. Forensic investigators were not able to make a positive identification, but Hart’s biological mother came forward with a DNA sample that proved the remains are those of the teen girl and authorities made the announcement public on Wednesday.

Hannah Hart was one of six children visiting from Oregon who were killed when 36-year-old Jennifer Hart allegedly intentionally drove off the cliff and into the ocean. Investigators say she was drunk at the time of the crash, but her motive remains a mystery.
