The clouds are starting to lift after the biggest storm of the year in Sonoma County, but the Russian River is still above flood stage. Advisory evacuations have been in place for those who live in the low-lying areas of the river since yesterday afternoon. As of 1:30 this morning, the river at Guerneville stood at 34.8 feet, over 2 feet above flood stage. It is expected to fall below flood stage by late this evening. And the river is expected to receed to 30.5 feet by tomorrow morning.

Meteorologists say more than 12 inches of rain fell west of Healdsburg, while the rest of Sonoma County got at least half a foot. The Guerneville School District is the only school closed today.
