The Trump administration is demanding California return billions used for the state’s high-speed rail project. The administration sent a letter yesterday asking the state to pay back two-and-a-half-billion dollars previously granted for the project. In addition, the administration plans to cancel well over 900-million dollars in federal grants that have yet to be used. Meanwhile, Governor Newsom says he plans to fight to keep the money, and claims the move was in response to the state suing Trump over his national emergency declaration to pay for building a wall along the border.
