Skiing and fireworks will go hand-in-hand this summer. A handful of Tahoe area ski resorts are already announcing that they will remain open past the Fourth of July. Storms have dumped almost 600 inches of snow in the Sierra over the course of the season. Squaw Valley officials say they received five inches of powder over the course of 24 hours this week. Squaw is being joined by Heavenly and Kirkwood in staying open for the Fourth.
