California could become the first state to ban the sale of fur. “American Pie” actress Shannon Elizabeth joined lawmakers at the Capitol this week to help push for the bill.

Assemblymember Laura Friedman introduced Assembly Bill 44 last year which aims to ban the sale of fur for the entire state. West Hollywood, Berkeley, San Francisco and Los Angeles already have a ban in place. The bill does not apply to animals harvested for food like sheep and cows, or the ability to buy leather.
