Neat Package For NCS Friday Night

Saturday, 27 February 2010 09:51 Went into the night following eight teams and comes out with three. Division II Boys No. 1 Montgomery 53 No. 8 San Lorenzo 51 No. 11 Alameda 68 No. 3 Ukiah 60 Notes...Montgomery had a 51-40 lead with 3:30 left and escape. Justin Connell scored 16 points and Ben Freeland added 13. The teams combined for seventeen three's and five made free throws. Montgomery, who has a nine game winning streak, will host Pinole Valley in the Semi-Finals Wednesday Night....Ukiah season ends with a three game losing streak and a 21-7 record. Alameda will be at No. 2 Redwood in the semi-finals. Redwood escaped themselves defeating No. 7 Mt. Eden 64-63. Division II Girls No. 1 Carondelet 71 No. 8 Casa Grande 48 No. 5 Montgomery 58 No. 4 Alameda 55 No. 2 Northgate 53 No. 7 Windsor 43 No. 3 Dublin 62 No. 11 Petaluma 34 Notes...Casa Grande fell behind by 12 in the first quarter. Four scored in double figures for Carondelet. Casa Grande had three in double figures and end the season 20-10. Carondelet will meet Montgomery in the next round. The Vikings defeated Alameda 58-55. Friday's NCS Round 2 Preview

Thursday, 25 February 2010 15:42 With the expanded Nor Cal Tournament..this is it. The winner of this round is guaranteed a shot in the Nor Cal playoffs. There are two Girls-Boys Doubleheaders and after a sweep in the first round, all the SCL Girls teams play higher seeds. Division II Boys Notes...No. 1 Montgomery, No. 2 Redwood and No. 3 Ukiah all had first round byes. No. 11 Alameda is the only lower seed that won in the first round. No. 8 San Loronzo (15-12) at No. 1 Montgomery (21-8) 8 pm...This will be the first game in a week for Montgomery. The last time we saw them they were celebrating that improbable win over Cardinal Newman. Montgomery has won eight straight since an Overtime loss to Ukiah. Montgomery is the only team from the North Bay to win the Division II Title since the Section went to Five Divisions in 1988. Still some work to do to accomplish that but still pretty amazing. San Lorenzo came in fifth place in the Hayward League and has a modest three game winning streak. While Montgomery had the first round bye, San Lorenzo had a big fourth quarter in a 52-38 win ...

  Thursday, 25 February 2010 07:14 Division IV Boys No. 5 Cardinal Newman 63 No. 12 Justin-Siena 49 No. 6 Cloverdale 61 No. 11 Lick Wilmerding 52 No. 9 Healdsburg 57 No. 8 Marin Catholic 48 Notes...Cardinal Newman jumped out to a 10-0 lead and after a brief rally had a 25 point lead in the third quarter. Xavier McCall scored 20 for the Cardinals to lead the way...Robby Rowland scored 32 and added 18 rebounds as Cloverdale pulled away at the end. Cloverdale led 44-43 with five minutes left and then scored ten straight to put it away....Ian Long scored 19 points including six for eight from the line to give Healdsburg the win. Healdsburg jumped out to a 14-3 lead and controlled the game most of the way. Marin Catholic did get within four late in the fourth quarter when Long started hitting free throws to put it away. Marin Cathlolic was without 6-foot-5, 305-pound center Mike Padovese who was out of the game with a concussion. Neat Package For Tuesday-NCS Playoff Style

Wednesday, 24 February 2010 10:17 Most of the brackets played out as Seeded except for one exception, which was part of a Big Night for the SCL Girls.. Division I Girls No. 4 Liberty 49 No. 13 Santa Rosa 35 Notes...Santa Rosa couldn't get the offense going trailing 31-22 after three and ends the season 18-10. Jordan Schalich led the Panthers with nine points. Division II Boys No. 4 Hayward 63 No. 13 Windsor 39 No. 7 Mt. Eden 45 No. 10 Casa Grande 38 Notes...SCL Boys not quite the night the SCL Girls had. Windsor was never in the game falling behind by 14 after one and end the season 13-13. Collin Giddins scored 15 points to lead the Jaguars...Casa Grande ends the season 17-11. Casa Grande fell behind by 8 early, but kept in close most of the way. They were outscored 11-4 in the fourth quarter. Connor Waggoner had a 10 point, 15 rebound game....One upset in the rest of the bracket. Tuesday Preview..Day One Of the North Coast Section Playoffs

Monday, 22 February 2010 22:28 Let the Playoffs Begin. Twelve Sonoma County Teams get going in the first of two nights of Round 1 Division I Girls No. 13 Santa Rosa (18-9) at No. 4 Liberty (18-8)...7:30 pm...Santa Rosa could get used to this. After going 27 years without a NCS Playoff appearance here they are again. Last season with a 15-11 record they were a No. 11 seed and lost to American 50-34. They haven't played in a week since they lost to Maria Carrillo in first round of the North Bay League Post Season Tournament. Liberty is from Brentwood and they came in second in the Bay Valley League three games behind Deer Valley, who is the No. 2 seed in this bracket. Liberty has won twelve of fifteen, two of the losses to Deer Valley. Division II Boys No. 13 Windsor (13-12) at No. 4 Hayward (14-11)...7:30 pm...Two losses at the end of the season cost Windsor a berth in the SCL Post Season Tournament. Analy-Casa Grande Advance To SCL Girls Championship Game

  Friday, 19 February 2010 07:00 The Analy Tigers put on one of their best shows of the season and advance to the SCL Girls Championship game against Casa Grande. The Game Is part of a Boys-Girls Championship Doubleheader Saturday Night at SRJC starting with the girls game at 6 pm. The Tigers raised their winning streak to 13 by blowing out Petaluma 53-42 in a game that wasn't as close as the score indicates. Analy jumped out to a 43-16 halftime lead and held on from there. They were led by Jen Tsurumoto who scored 26 points, 21 of them in the first half. In that half she was seven of nine from the field and four of four from three point range. Analy, who raised their record to 19-5, will meet a Casa Grande team that has had quite a turnaround season. Casa Grande went on the road and defeated Windsor 61-49. Casa Grande jumped out to a 13 point first half lead and withstood every challenge Windsor threw at them in the second half. Stephanie Sack led the way with 20 points as Casa Grande beat Windsor for the first time in three games this season. The ...

Cardinal Newman-Montgomery Advance To The North Bay League Post Season Championship Game

Wednesday, 17 February 2010 22:10 High School Basketball Fans are you ready for another Cardinal Newman-Montgomery game? Both teams won their First Round North Bay League Post Season tournament game, so it the stage is set Friday Night at SRJC. Cardinal Newman advanced with a 60-30 win over Piner for their second straight win after their mini-slump last week. They are now 21-6 on the season, which is exactly what Montgomery is. The Vikings beat Ukiah 62-56, their first win in three games against the Wildcats this season. This will be the fourth game between Cardinal Newman and Montgomery this year, with Montgomery winning two of the first three. At Montgomery tonight, it was a lot like last night which featured the Girls first round--good game, a little bigger crowd, same atmosphere and a Montgomery win. The big man of the Montgomery win was again the big man. Ben Freeland, who has been dominating the last week and a half in some big games, scored 20 points and pulled down 12 rebound to lead the Vikings. Cardinal Newman beat Piner 57-36 and 56-41....Piner has lost three of four, Cardinal Newman two of three...Ukiah beat Montgomery 64-60 and 78-76 in overtime. The overtime game was at Montgomery. SRJC ....The SRJC Women takes over sole possession of first place in the Big 8 race with a 72-48 win over San Joaquin Delta. Jeanette DeWitt scored 20 and Amanda Briare added 16. The Bear Cubs Women have won seven straight and 11 of 12 and are 21-6 on the season. They have two game left, both on the road, before they should have a good seed in the State Playoffs.....The SRJC Men were eliminated from the Big 8 race after losing to San Joaquin Delta 67-62. The Bear Cubs had a big night from Gerrell Knightshead who had 17 points and 16 rebounds. Jordan Freelander also added 17 for the Bear Cubs who are now 14-11 overall and 7-5 record in league play. The Bear Cubs are in third place in the Big 8 race and next are at second place American River.
