Well-known for its excellent schools, Santa Rosa City Schools has been attracting young families for many years. In 2009-10 the district is serving 15,600 students from kindergarten through the twelfth grade.

Santa Rosa City Schools has eleven elementary schools; one five-six Accelerated Charter School; one K-8 Charter for the Arts; five middle schools; five comprehensive high schools; one continuation high school; five alternative high school programs; one K-12 independent study program; and several day care programs.

Santa Rosa City Schools is composed of the Santa Rosa Elementary School District (grades K-6) and the Santa Rosa High School District (grades 7-12). In addition to the Santa Rosa City Elementary School District, seven other ‘partner’ elementary districts (grades K-6) exist in the greater Santa Rosa area.
