Ghost Pines Wines I

7/11/2010

Grey Pine, Digger Pine, Foothill Pine, Ghost Pine, Bull Pine, and Nut Pine, one of these Pines is a wine brand. Can you name that Pine? I’m Tom Simoneau with today’s wine minute here to say in 1968 Louis Martini Winery bought a 178 acre vineyard in Napa’s Chiles Valley. The property’s ridge line was planted to a pine tree which on a moonlit night looked and sounded ghostly. Ghost Pines Vineyard was born. Today the name Ghost Pines can be found on a wine brand based at Louis Martini Winery. The winemaking philosophy for Ghost Pines is a modern take on visionary winemaker Louis M. Martini’s approach to winemaking. Great grapes know no boundaries. The Ghost Pines wines are blends from multi-appellations. Look for the Ghost Pines 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon, 59% from Napa and 41% Sonoma, showing ripe black fruit and herbs with blackberry jam, 4 wine stains, $23. Do you believe in ghosts?
