Kelly & Young Wines

6/9/2012

Ah… Summertime, summertime, I just love summertime! I’m Tom Simoneau with today’s wine minute here to say BBQ’s, vacations, relaxing by the pool as I soak my tired 8½ D’s and sip an ice-cold glass of Rosé. As the mercury rises, no need for those big boy reds, give me a dry Rosé or a crisp Sauvignon Blanc. This is the time of year when the 2011’s hit the market, so you’ve got tons of options. Favorites of mine come from Kelly & Young, the small wine brand owned by Jim & Kathleen Young. And yes, Jim is the son of Alexander Valley pioneer Robert Young. The new releases from Kelly & Young are off the charts. Their 2011 Sauvignon Blanc is all citrus, light herbs, and melon, 5 wine stains, $24. The Kelly & Young 2011 Rosé name Kathleen Rose shows cherry, watermelon, and mineral, 4½ wine stains, $24. Kelly & Young, the perfect summertime wines.
