Flag missing from 9/11 firefighter's family's home

HUNTINGTON STATION, N.Y. (AP) — The family of a firefighter killed on Sept. 11 is hoping for the return of an American flag that disappeared from its yard in New York.

Huntington Station resident Melissa Brengel tells NBC New York (http://bit.ly/1rX0rIc ) the September 11th Families Association gave her the flag after it flew over the World Trade Center ruins. The family believes the flag was taken late Monday or early Tuesday.

Brengel's brother, Jonathan Ielpi (eye-EHL'-pee), was 29 when he died at the Trade Center in 2001.
