Protesters are continuing to pledge solidarity with groups concerned with an impending Trump presidency. About 75 people gathered yesterday on both sides of Sebastopol Road near the old Roseland shopping center.
The rally was at least the sixth protest in Sonoma County since the “billionaire” businessman defeated Hillary Clinton. The gathering was organized to show support for Muslims, undocumented immigrants, women, people of color and members of the LGBTQ community.
Lynn Woolsey, a liberal North Coast congresswoman for 20 years, says she was “sad for our country” that voters would elect a “reality TV star over someone who could actually do the job.” Others are upset as well.
One Sebastopol resident blames the teasing his biracial son got for his curly hair on Trump rhetoric and worries about a rise in bullying and abuse of gays, women, and minorities during a Trump administration.
