Crab lovers nearly cracked under the pressure …but it’s official now, It’s here! The mouth-watering juicy tasting fresh Dungeness crab is arriving in Sonoma County supermarkets in plenty of time to be on the menu for Thanksgiving.
Last year, health concerns linked to a harmful algae bloom resulted in a four-and-a-half-month delay in the commercial season. This year’s season began on time, starting Tuesday, albeit only in waters south of Point Reyes. Dungeness crab is one of California’s largest fisheries, peaking at over 95-million-dollars in 2011 to 2012.
