Jasmine El-Gamal, Former Adviser on Syria to the Department of Defense and Senior Fellow at the Atlantic Council.
The Atlantic Council’s Jasmine El-Gamal rejoined us on The Drive this afternoon to assess the impacts of Trump’s Executive Order on immigration. Jasmine served four Secretaries of Defense as an adviser on Iraq , Syria, and Lebanon, in addition to having served as a translator in Iraq with the US military in 2003. She says that while the Executive Order shouldn’t be considered a “Muslim ban”, there are problematic elements of the actions and the long-term implications could do more harm than good for national security.
