A number of homeless people in Santa Rosa are looking for a new place to sleep. Yesterday morning city public works crews and police moved people camping at three downtown Highway 101 underpasses so crews could clean the areas. A few dozen people were cleared off the sidewalks of the Ninth, Sixth and Fifth streets’ underpasses that some had been living in for weeks. Yesterday’s action came one day after a two-day “Summit on Homeless Solutions” and five days after an annual count of the county’s homeless population. The official count of the homeless is not yet available.
