Caltrans is considering spending eight-million dollars to keep Highway 37 in Novato from flooding. The State Route 37 Policy Committee discussed short- and long-term solutions during its meeting at Novato City Hall yesterday. Short-term solutions include adding drainage pipes, along with pumping and a barrier to keep the road from flooding. A four-mile stretch of Highway 37 was closed for flooding several times in the past two months because of storms that swelled Novato Creek and king tides that kept water from flowing into San Pablo Bay.
