While the new Arizona immigration law drew protests, news conferences and court lawsuits, a drop house was raided by the Arizona Department of Public Safety along with other law enforcement jurisdictions including U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, yielding nine suspected illegal immigrants, shown here, and three suspected human smugglers Thursday, April 29, 2010, in Phoenix. White House spokesman Sean Spicer says the Department of Homeland Security will be enforcing immigration laws that are already on the books. DHS is moving aggressively crack down on illegal immigration with new plans. Spicer argued that anyone who is in the country illegally is always a candidate for deportation. He said the primary focus will be on illegal immigrants who are suspected of committing crimes. The plans aim to significantly boost the number of illegal immigrants detained along the U.S.-Mexican border. More Border Patrol agents would be hired and some immigration judges would be placed close to high-traffic border areas.
