Several key Sonoma County programs are at risk of suffering significant budget cuts under Donald Trump’s proposed budget. Trump’s budget released yesterday cuts over four-billion dollars from Housing and Urban Development, including elimination of the Community Development Block Grant Program, which funnels about three-million dollars a year to the county and Santa Rosa. The county is expecting over one-and-a-half-million dollars from HUD this year, and Santa Rosa expects over one-million dollars. Representative Mike Thompson of Saint Helena called Trump’s proposal “narrow-minded and misguided,” and Representative Jared Huffman of San Rafael said it was “craven and reckless.”
