It’s been in the talking stages for years: now, construction is beginning on the suicide-prevention net under the Golden Gate Bridge.  The net will be 20 feet below the bridge’s sidewalk and has a length of about seven football fields.  The project is expected to cost around 200-million dollars and wrap up in 2021.  Three-dozen people died last year in jumps from the bridge, but officers were able to prevent hundreds more.
