California is moving forward with its plans to adopt a single-payer health care coverage system.  Senator Ricardo Lara is sponsoring the bill and explained the state would become the single provider of health insurance. The bill looks to eliminate the surprise of out-of-network bills and those insured would no longer face high deductibles.  Supporters of the bill say offering a single-payer health care system in California would reduce overall health care costs.  But the biggest concerns of the proposed law are over how the insurance plan would be funded.  It’s unsure if Governor Jerry Brown would support the measure.
