California is breaking renewable energy records this month, and experts predict record growth to continue throughout the year.  Spokesperson Steven Greenlee with The California Independent System Operator says the largest grid in the state beat the previous record of 56-percent of the day’s demand with renewable energy on May 13th, peaking at just over 67-percent.  Greenlee said adding hydropower into that figure totals more than 80-percent of the state’s energy coming from renewables.  The growth is attributed to very sunny and windy days along with an increasing number of solar facilities in the state.
