A bill is moving forward in California that would move high school and middle school start times later in the morning.  State Senator Anthony Portantino said the bill would require the school day to start no earlier than 8:30 a.m. The democrat senator from Glendale explained test scores, attendance and graduation rates have all been shown to increase due to the later start times.  Portantino added the later start time also resulted in the decline of drug use, car accidents and obesity.  The senate bill now goes to the Assembly for their consideration.
