Surgeries have been halted at Sonoma West medical Center due to an outbreak of mold. The Press Democrat reports that the mold spores were discovered about a month ago under a hand washing sink in a sterile processing area. Though not in operating rooms, it does affect the hospital’s ability to sterilize necessary instruments for surgeries. Surgeries have been halted for the past three weeks and the California Department of Public Health is conducting an investigation.
