Cheaper gas won’t be enough to spur many more road trips this summer. Americans are too worried about their jobs and the economy to feel relief. Economists and tourism experts are expecting only a small uptick in summer travelers. Gas prices are lower, but still high enough to keep lower-income Americans off the road. The job market is improving, but still shaky. And household debt remains high. The bulk of road trippers, experts say, are taking shorter trips, reducing food and entertainment expenses or staying closer to home to conserve cash. (AP Photo/Paul Sakuma)

Just in time for summer travel, the average price of a gallon regular gas in Sonoma County is below three dollars. GasBuddy reports prices at pumps in Santa Rosa ranged from two-dollars-and-75 cents to three-dollars-and-29 cents per gallon for regular, and at Costco on Santa Rosa Avenue the price for members-only was two-dollars-and-55 cents. Experts say the downward trend is expected to continue this week barring any “sudden reversal in the price of crude oil.”
