The 2017 grape harvest is underway in Sonoma and Napa counties. Yesterday’s early morning start included workers picking grapes at Gloria Ferrer Caves & Vineyards in Sonoma and Green Island Vineyard in American Canyon. Iron Horse Vineyards in Sebastopol will start its harvest this morning, and the season should wrap up by early November. Last year’s harvest generated a cash value of almost one-and-a-half-billion dollars, including over 580-million dollars in Sonoma County, and a record over-700-million in Napa County.
