Tanker Crash Causes Fuel Spill, Closes Highway 1

A tanker has collapsed on the it’s side that has closed highway 1 Near timber cove.

The tanker rolled and landed on it’s side near the Salt Point State Park entrance around 10:30 PM Tuesday night. The tanker, carrying 8500 gallons of diesel and gasoline, punctured spilling 1500 gallons on the road. Hazardous material workers were able to transfer the remaining 7000 gallons to another truck around 9:30 AM this morning. The truck has since been removed but the highway is still closed as they clean up the fuel from the road and the dirt nearby. Authorities are looking to reopen that part of Highway 1 by 4 or 5 PM Wednesday. Unknown at this time what exactly caused the crash.
