Two Men Charged in Oakland Ghost Ship Fire Plead Not Guilty

Two men charged with three-dozen counts of involuntary manslaughter in Oakland’s Ghost Ship warehouse fire are pleading not guilty. Master tenant Derick Almena and the warehouse’s creative director Max Harris entered pleas yesterday. The two are charged in the fire that swept through the Fruitvale neighborhood warehouse last December. Thirty-six people died in the fire that broke out during a musical performance in the warehouse that was used as a creative space. The 47-year-old Almena and 27-year-old Harris are jailed in lieu of 750-thousand dollars bail.
