The U.S. Department of Labor is extending a deadline for fire victims to apply for unemployment benefits to December 18th. The federal agency announced the extension yesterday for workers who lost wages or jobs as a direct result of the Sonoma County wildfires in October. Claims filed to the California EDD after the new deadline will also be considered if an applicant can show reasonable cause for a late submission. Applications may be filed in person in the SonomaWORKS office on Capricorn Way in Santa Rosa Monday through Friday from eight to five, by phone or online.
