Mental health issues are increasing as people in Sonoma County continue to recover from the deadly wildfires. October’s wildfires have left an untold number of people battling with stress, anxiety, depression and other mental health issues that experts say are anticipated following such a major tragedy. Sonoma County officials are anticipating what could be an unprecedented wave of mental health care issues, while therapists and other mental health professionals report an increasing number of people seeking help. A trauma expert and a director of terrorism and disaster programs are scheduled to visit Sonoma County on December 5th to help local officials develop a long-term mental health plan.
