Labor groups representing most Sonoma County government employees are asking officials to extend current contract talks. Ten labor groups recently asked the Board of Supervisors and county staff to extend for one year the benefits provided by their current contracts, which are set to expire in 2018. Labor leaders are asking for the extension instead of negotiating new multi-year agreements while the county is still in the early stages of recovery from October’s wildfires. SEIU, the county’s largest union, is among them. In all, 4-thousand Sonoma County workers could be affected.
