NASA is calling the first supermoon of 2018 the “biggest and brightest” one for the entire year. The supermoon that illuminated the skies on New Year’s Day occurred because the moon became full on the same day it was closest to Earth. Those who missed January’s first full moon – nicknamed a wolf moon – will have an opportunity to see another on January 31st.
