(Petaluma, CA) — Petaluma Mayor David Glass announced today he would not seek re-election to the Petaluma office he’s held for the past eight years.  Announcing his decision on KSRO’s The Drive with Steve Jaxon, Glass cited both personal, professional, and political reasons as his reasoning for not running for re-election.  The former San Francisco Giants Broadcaster has been a mainstay on the Petaluma City Council since first winning election in 2003, serving through 2006 before leaving to host KSRO’s “The David Glass Show”, Glass then won re-election to City Council in 2008 and again as Mayor in 2010. “I love the fact that I think we were able to make a difference and I look forward to still being involved in the process.”  Glass spoke of his excitement to be able to get involved in out-of-state congressional campaigns without conflicting with his responsibility to the city.

Glass looked back on his time as Mayor positively, citing flood control, downtown re-development, and helping make the city’s streets safer.  Glass had few regrets, but said that not being able to secure a minor league baseball team will go down as one of his biggest “I’ll never understand the decision by the Fair Board on that one,” said Glass of the project.  Glass says he expects to endorse a candidate once the race for his successor takes shape “I think it will be a contested race once all the dust settles and the progressives figure out who they’ll be running.”
