Deborah Fudge from the SMART Board of Directors, shares a new update on the future of the commuter train:
Yesterday’s announcement brings the SMART Train system closer to its eventual goal of extending service to Healdsburg and as far north as Cloverdale. As welcome as the funding courtesy of the so-called gas tax is, the sum is just over a third of what SMART projects it needs to complete the extension. The rest of the money depends of the results of a regional ballot measure to be voted on by people in all nine Bay Area counties in June.
