Sheriff’s Captain Mark Essick and Santa Rosa City Councilman Ernesto Olivares are locked in a tight race to become the next sheriff. According to a recent telephone poll of 500 registered voters, both men received 24 percent support, while retired Los Angeles police captain John Mutz is trailing with just ten percent support. Meanwhile, 28 percent of those surveyed said they were still trying to decide which man to back in the June 5th primary.
