Hate Crimes Up for Sonoma County in 2017

A new report by the state Department Of Justice is indicating that hate crimes increased in Sonoma County in 2017. According to a report released this week, 16 hate crimes were reported countywide last year, compared to just ten in 2016. Local and state authorities offered no specific details yesterday regarding the nature of the crimes committed or explanation for the increase. Hate crimes generally involve incidents related to race, ethnicity, religion or sexual orientation.
