A 27-year-old Santa Rosa parolee was arrested yesterday after brandishing a handgun during an argument. Sonoma County Sheriff’s Deputies received the disturbance call at about 11:30 AM near East Robles and Brooks Ave in southeast Santa Rosa.

The argument by two rival gang members was witnessed by a neighbor. During the argument, one suspect pulled out a handgun and held it to his side as he advanced towards the second man. The second man was in a car with his girlfriend and kids and was able to drive away without further confrontation. The suspect walked southbound along a creek and hopped a fence.

Shortly thereafter, a man in the 3400 block of Brooks Ave waived down deputies, stating a suspect was hiding under a blanket in his backyard.

Deputies made contact with 27-year-old, Santa Rosa parolee Rico Lemay and he was taken into custody without incident. Nearby, behind a well pump, Boomer the Sheriff’s bomb sniffing Golden Retriever, found Lemay’s black backpack with a .9 mm semiautomatic handgun, loaded with 16 rounds of ammunition, face masks, gloves, methamphetamine and heroin packaged for sale.

Lemay was booked into the Sonoma County Jail on charges of being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, felon in possession of ammunition, assault with a deadly weapon, violation of probation, possession of large capacity magazine, possession of narcotics while armed, possession of narcotics for sales, child endangerment and a county parole violation.
