Fallen Utah Firefighter Honored Yesterday by CalFire Honor Guard, Local Community

The body of a firefighter killed while fighting a wildfire in California is back home in Utah. These people stood on a highway overpass yesterday to pay tribute to the memory of Draper Battalion Chief Matt Burchett.

Burchett’s casket was flown back to Utah from Santa Rosa yesterday, landing in Salt Lake City around eight o’clock last night. Services for Burchett will be held Monday at the Maverick Center in West Valley City.

Burchett was injured Monday by a falling tree, and later died at Ukiah Valley Medical Center. Meanwhile, Governor Brown has ordered flags in Sacramento to be flown at half-staff in Burchett’s honor.
