About 150 large businesses in Sonoma County will have the opportunity to save up-to 50-percent on their electricity bills by using “smart batteries.” The software controlled batteries, produced by Millbrae-based company Stem, allow companies to use battery power during peak energy-use times, when energy is costly, and then the batteries recharge during low-demand energy times. The batteries are being made available by Sonoma Clean Power via their partnership with Stem. These batteries can be installed and in use in a little over a year, and offer between $20-thousand and $70-thousand dollars in savings per year.
