It’s been tough to hire teachers and assistants because of the housing crisis in Sonoma County. In an effort to provide housing for employees, Sonoma State University has purchased a Petaluma apartment building: for 42-million dollars.

That’s Joyce Lopes, Vice President for Administration at SSU. The apartment building adjacent to the Petaluma Marina is nearly complete. The 90 units in the building will available to faculty and assistants soon. SSU also plans to build more student housing near the campus.
