The City of Santa Rosa is looking for a new police auditor. The current auditor, attorney Bob Aaronson, has caused concern amongst the city council after he called the city’s efforts to curb homelessness ineffective. Aaronson had served in the role from 2016 to 2018, responsible for examining how officers use force against civilians, vetting the department’s handling of internal investigations and citizen complaints, and observing daily police operations. His contract expires at the end of this month. The position was created after the 2013 sheriff’s deputy shooting of teen, Andy Lopez.
